The school holds to the old-fashioned belief that, ultimately, there are no substitutes for good teachers, hard work and sound learning to provide the foundation for future schooling.
It believes in teaching the difference between right and wrong, and it also believes good speech, good manners, kindness and consideration are important in the development of its pupils.
Avalon School was founded in 1907 and moved to the present site in 1929. The School is fully co-educational. Avalon obtained its charitable status and became and Educational Trust in 2001.
